He warns that \u201cfailure to verify sources\u201d can \u201cfuel disinformation,\u201d deepening \u201cmistrust, confusion, and insecurity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rather than calling for a halt to innovation, the pope urges discernment and governance, proposing what he describes as \u201ca possible alliance\u201d with digital technology \u2014 but only on clear foundations. \u201cThis alliance is possible but needs to be based on three pillars: responsibility, cooperation, and education,\u201d he writes.<\/p>\n<p>On responsibility, the pope addresses tech platforms, developers, lawmakers, and the media, urging them to prioritize the common good over profit and to ensure transparency and protections for human dignity. He also calls for clear labeling of AI-generated content: \u201cContent generated or manipulated by AI are to be clearly marked and distinguished from content created by humans,\u201d he writes.<\/p>\n<p>The pope stresses the need to protect the work of journalists and creators: \u201cThe authorship and sovereign ownership of the work of journalists and other content creators must be protected.
